【English Summary】

Digital Transformation and Multiple Resilience Research Group

The “Digital Transformation and Multiple Resilience” research group focus on a range of key issues, using interdisciplinary theoretical frameworks and empirical data to investigate how digital transformation affects the Taiwanese public—from psychological and behavioral adaptation, interpersonal dynamics, and family systems, to societal structures and state governance. Central to this approach is the lens of multiple resilience, which conceptualizes resilience not merely at the individual level, but as a multilayered construct encompassing intrapersonal, interpersonal, familial, community, societal, and national dimensions. Given the intersectionality among these levels, the research aims to capture both micro- and macro-level processes and outcomes.

First, with the widespread adoption of social media and networking platforms, the information ecology has shifted from traditional, centralized broadcasting models to decentralized, user-driven flows. This transformation has altered how people access, interpret, and respond to information. Importantly, these changes are experienced differently across generations, resulting in divergent patterns of cognitive appraisal, emotion regulation, and media engagement. Furthermore, situated at the crossroads of regional political change, Taiwan's digital-native generations are being shaped by both globalization and geopolitical forces, influencing their political identity and intergroup dynamics. The group will also investigate the evolution of social identity among the digitally immersed youth and its connection to the spread and psychological impact of misinformation.

To ensure both the depth and breadth of its research outputs, the group will integrate perspectives from psychology, anthropology, data science, and communication technology, adopting mixed-methods approaches such as experimental interventions, qualitative inquiry, field studies, and AI-based machine learning analytics. These methodologies align with the research team's areas of expertise and support the construction of a comprehensive and integrative research framework—linking individual psychology, family and interpersonal functioning, social change, and digital governance.

The research team is also actively involved in major national datasets and longitudinal studies, including the Taiwan Youth Project on Digital Generation Development, the Taiwan Social Change Survey (TSCS), and the Panel Study of Family Dynamics (PSFD). These datasets offer longitudinal, population-representative data that align closely with the group’s core themes. By leveraging these resources alongside interdisciplinary collaboration, the group's analyses will transcend isolated topics and instead facilitate multi-level dialogue across individual mental health, family structures, social transformation, and technological shifts.

The establishment of this research group will further advance interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling experts from psychology, anthropology, sociology, education, communication studies, and information science to build a synergistic research ecosystem. Through cross-disciplinary integration, reciprocal validation, and collective innovation, the group aspires to maximize scholarly impact and foster transformative insights into the intersection of digital life and human resilience.
