Regulations for Visiting the Museum of the Institute of Ethnology, Academia Sinica

Regulations passed at the Institute meeting (1989.12.18).
Revisions passed by the museum committee (2009.11.09).

  1. The display room of the museum is open, free of charge, to members of the Academia Sinica and the general public,.
  2. The museum is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:30 to 16:30. It is closed on national holidays and long holiday weekends. Should it be necessary for the museum to close at any other time, announcements will be posted on our website.
  3. The museum is open to visitors during opening hours. Due to space limitations, groups of more than 10 people should contact the museum staff to make arrangements beforehand, to ensure the quality of their visit. The museum also accepts reservations for group guided tours. Please refer to the corresponding regulations and application form.
  4. Any requests for visits other than opening hours during weekdays should be made beforehand (by mail or phone). The request should specify the date, time, number of people, and name of organization. The museum reserves the right to reject requests depending on the availability of personnel. Once the request has been confirmed and accepted, the applicant/organization should arrive at the museum at the agreed upon time.
  5. Luggage and umbrellas are not allowed into the display room.
  6. Eating and drinking are not allowed in the exhibition area.
  7. Visitors are not allowed to touch or move any of the exhibited items.
  8. Photography is allowed in the display room. However, the use of flash and tripods is prohibited. News reporters and interviewersmust inform the staff by letter, and be accompanied by museum staff. Research-related photography and portraits should also be reported before proceeding.
  9. These regulations take effectt after being approved and passed by the museum committee. The same will apply for future revisions.
