研究概述

我的學術興趣集中於探討基督宗教在傳播至非西方社會的過程中與本土文化的競爭、並存與互動。我的博士研究檢視文化大革命對中國基督新教轉型的影響。我依據在福建兩個地區所進行的田野調查與口述歷史研究,提出文化大革命對一切宗教活動的根除性打壓,帶來一種非建制性、缺乏宗教權威的信仰型態,其特色是宗教的私有化、女性化,以及重視個人超自然經驗。在此時期續存的基督徒群體傾向於採取中國民間宗教的前提與關懷,強調「趨吉避凶」的果效與「靈驗」的經歷,也使得此一非本土的宗教得以跨越社會與文化的邊界而傳播。同時,對宗教的打壓使得民間宗教與地方社會原本盤根錯節的相互依存性暫時鬆動,給予個人更大的宗教選擇空間。這種信仰型態持續影響到改革開放以後的基督教發展,帶來了類似於五旬節與靈恩運動型態的信仰、眾多拒絕建制性宗教權威的非官方「家庭教會」,以及高比例婦女的基督教群體。我目前繼續探討文革時期基督教的信仰型態如何一方面與漢人民間信仰進行深層互動,另一方面又從其中區別出來,並顛覆民間信仰所支持的傳統秩序。我未來的研究計畫,將繼續把當代中國基督教放在非西方世界基督教的架構下,探討不同類型信仰群體的特徵,以及「再宗派化」的現象。

研究旨趣(點擊展開)

本人廣泛的學術興趣是探討宗教在社會變遷的過程中,對於形塑群體的認同、宇宙觀、權力關係與性別關係所扮演的角色,並特別集中於基督宗教在傳播至非西方社會的過程中與本土文化的競爭、並存與互動。我博士論文檢視文化大革命對中國基督新教轉型的影響。我依據在福建兩個地區所進行的田野調查與口述歷史研究,提出文化大革命對一切宗教活動的根除性打壓,帶來一種非建制性、缺乏宗教權威的信仰型態,其特色是宗教的私有化、女性化,以及重視個人超自然經驗。這個影響持續到改革開放以後的基督教發展,帶來了當前類似於五旬節與靈恩運動型態的信仰、眾多拒絕建制性宗教權威的非官方「家庭教會」,以及高比例婦女的基督教群體。我未來的研究計畫,將繼續把當代中國基督教放在非西方世界基督教的架構下探討,包括皈依基督教信仰所涉及的宇宙觀變遷、皈依與宗教場域中的性別實踐之關係,以及不同類型信仰群體的特徵。
