摘要 Among the many techniques that aim at preparing for a coming pandemic, such as sentinel devices or stockpiling masks and vaccines, is the organization of simulations. Based on scenarios of past epidemics, they can be organized as roundtable exercises in offices or as real-time drills in public spaces. By following the scenario, the actors, the media, I will ask if these simulations can be considered as performances or as rituals. The question that must be raised is that of the efficacy of simulations: do they build capacities and competences, or do they simply perform the power of public health? Beyond this interrogation is a more general reflection on the relations between fiction and reality in the anticipation of coming pandemics.
